Senior Marketing Accountant (Oil & Gas)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Marketing Accountant to support downstream marketing activities within an oil and gas marketing organization. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely accounting of crude oil marketing transactions, including netback calculations, crude settlement processes, and month-end close activities.
The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, along with experience supporting accounting functions within the energy or commodities sector.
Key Responsibilities
Netback Calculations
Prepare and review netback calculations for crude oil sales, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual agreements.
Analyze variances and provide explanations for significant fluctuations in pricing, transportation costs, and deductions.
Crude Settlement
Coordinate and execute crude oil settlement processes, including validation of volumes, pricing, and applicable deductions.
Collaborate with marketing, operations, and counterparties to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely and accurate settlements.
Month-End Close
Perform month-end close activities related to marketing accounting, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
Ensure marketing transactions are properly recorded in accordance with internal policies and applicable accounting standards.
Reporting & Financial Analysis
Prepare and analyze financial reports related to marketing and trading activities.
Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis to support management and operational decision-making.
Assignment Details
Contract Length: Six months with potential for month-to-month extension
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week
Work Arrangement: Onsite Monday–Thursday; optional remote work on Fridays
