Job Description
The Facilities Engineer / Specialist II is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant facilities by evaluating, coordinating, and improving engineering activities related to process and mechanical systems. This role ensures that all engineering work—whether performed internally or by contractors—is executed in compliance with applicable standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
The position serves as a key interface between engineering, operations, and maintenance teams, providing technical support for plant operations, equipment integrity, and facility modifications. The engineer also contributes to plant performance through surveillance activities, troubleshooting, and participation in shutdowns and maintenance planning.
Responsibilities
Engineering Oversight & Compliance
• Review and evaluate engineering work performed by internal teams and external contractors to ensure compliance with standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure engineering and design activities align with established procedures and operational goals.
• Maintain awareness of applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements.
Operations Support
• Serve as an area engineer supporting a specific plant or facility area.
• Provide technical support for day-to-day operations, including troubleshooting equipment and process issues.
• Support modifications, repairs, and alterations to plant equipment such as piping, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, and storage tanks.
• Assist in maintaining equipment integrity and reliability across assigned areas.
Facilities Surveillance & Performance Monitoring
• Conduct routine facility surveillance activities based on key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Monitor plant conditions and identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
• Track equipment performance and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Shutdown & Project Support
• Provide engineering support during planned shutdowns, turnarounds, and maintenance events.
• Coordinate with maintenance, operations, and project teams to ensure safe and efficient execution of work.
• Assist with planning and execution of facility upgrades and capital improvements.
Communication & Coordination
• Facilitate clear and timely communication between engineering, operations, and other functional teams.
• Collaborate with site contacts, lead engineers, and cross-functional teams to support operational objectives.
• Provide updates on engineering activities, progress, and issues.
Continuous Improvement
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency.
• Support implementation of best practices in engineering and facility operations.
Skills
• Strong knowledge of process and facilities engineering principles
• Familiarity with design standards, codes, and regulatory requirements
• Ability to support and troubleshoot plant equipment and systems
• Understanding of pressure equipment, piping systems, and rotating equipment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation
• Strong organizational and coordination skills
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, Civil, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline required
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in oil and gas or industrial facilities engineering
• Experience supporting plant operations, maintenance, or process systems
• Knowledge of pressure systems, piping, and facility equipment
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and support multiple stakeholders
• Strong communication skills in technical and business settings
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads
• Willingness to perform field visits and work in plant environments
• Must be able to support on-site operations as required

Pay: $86.50/per hr
